It was a September evening in 2018, in Rome near Castro Pretorio, and I was completely worn out after a long day of work. I had promised a friend we would meet, but by then I had almost given up - the couch felt far too inviting. Around ten o’clock though, I suddenly decided to act like I still had energy to spare. I got in the car and drove toward my friend's house in Castelli Romani. Blessed be that choice: at my friend’s place I met Lucia, and I was instantly captivated. She was the most radiant person I had ever encountered: brilliant, graceful, and kind at heart.
That same evening, I tried as best I could to convince her to join me and a few friends on a short trip to Lucca. To my delight, I soon discovered she had an adventurous streak, and she agreed. We left as strangers and returned as a couple. We liked each other so much that, even though I had to move to Barcelona a few months later, Lucia chose to follow me there.
Since that night, distance has never truly kept us apart.
